The World Equine Airway Symposium (WEAS) 2017 is arranged and held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in close cooperation between the Nordic countries. Copenhagen is strategically located in terms of easy access by air, sea and ground, and local infrastructure will let you travel with ease.

 

WEAS 2017 will take place at the stunning Langelinie Pavillonen sited by the waterfront, which provides a beautiful view and easy access to historic surroundings as ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Kastellet’, and Amalienborg – the Queen’s residential. Hotels are located nearby the venue, and a short stroll in the streets of Copenhagen will let you meet the citizens of the happiest country in the world.

World Equine Airway Symposium is the only international symposium devoted

solely to equine respiratory disease. The programme will include pathogenesis,

diagnosis, management and treatment of horse respiratory diseases.

There will be an international cadre of speakers. The topics will be concurrent

research and clinical sessions.

Clinical sessions will include:

  • Dynamic endoscopy and imaging in the diagnosis of upper airway disease.

  • When is surgery necessary and what to do about upper airway obstructions.

  • Managing the horse with chronic lower airway inflammation.

  • Strangles, Rhodococcus and other infections.

  • Special problems of foals

  • Vaccination programs

  • Roundtables to discuss clinical issues with experts

THE ROYAL DANISH HORSE GUARD

The Royal Danish Horse Guard will participate in the opening ceremony due to a close cooperation with the University of Copenhagen.

The Royal Danish Horse Guard commands 75 horses and operates as a significant part of the Royal Danish Army. Among noteworthy purposes, the Guard provides mounted escorts for the Danish Royal Family as well as conveying ceremonial services for the Royal Danish Army.

REGISTRATION

We exclusively offer an early bird price of 335 € for the full WEAS 2017 Package until May 1st 2017. After this date, the full WEAS 2017 Package will be 470 €. Prices are including VAT.

There will be limited tickets available.

We will be offering the possibility to register for 1-day passes for certain days of the WEAS 2017.

If you want to attend the official WEAS 2017 Reception, you need to buy this ticket individually. You are welcome to purchase tickets for your family and travel companions.

Langelinie Pavillonen is one of Copenhagen’s most prominent architectural gems designed by the renowned architect couple, Eva and Niels Koppel, in 1954 as a part of a competition issued by Copenhagen Municipal. Langelinie Pavillonen is blessed with its unique location close to water and green surroundings; all the while it is located in the center of Copenhagen’s buzzing city atmosphere.

The WEAS 2017 committee welcomes abstracts for the symposium. Please read the information carefully to ensure that abstracts meet the requirements for acceptance – deadline May 1st 2017.

Abstracts must be submitted via this website. Faxed or emailed abstracts will not be considered.

Abstracts may be submitted for oral or poster presentation

All abstracts must be submitted in English.

The presenting author is limited to submit 3 abstracts.

Abstracts containing previously presented data are eligible for submission.  However inclusion of updated data is encouraged.

Multiple copies of the same abstract must not be submitted

The first author or a co-author is expected to attend the Congress and present the abstract. Only abstracts of presenting authors, who have paid their registration fee by 15th May 2017 will be included in the program.

Abstracts must be SUBMITTED before the deadline May 1st 2017, in order to be sent to review for inclusion in the Scientific Program.

Graphs and images may be uploaded in JPG, PNG and GIF format only. ​​A maximum of 2 images and 2 tables are allowed to be submitted as part of each abstract.​

The abstracts must be allocated to a specific topic for the Scientific Program. You will need to select the topic most suited to your abstract.

The following structure needs to be followed when submitting an abstract:

  • Introduction
  • Objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions

Once completing submission, a confirmation that the abstract has been submitted will be sent by e-mail, indicating the abstract number that has been allocated. Please refer to the abstract number in all correspondence regarding the abstract.

You can re-enter the submission link at any time to view and edit your abstract until the deadline of May 1st 2017. Submitted abstracts cannot be modified or corrected after the submission deadline.

Before submitting the abstract, the Submitter will be asked to confirm that:

  • The abstract have been previewed and that all information is correct and in accordance to the abstract submission guidelines provided on this website.
  • The content of the abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission.
  • The abstract will be published exactly as submitted.
  • Submission of the abstract constitutes consent to publication (e.g. Congress website, final program book etc.).
  • The submitter is the sole owner or have the rights of all the information and content (‘Content’) provided to WEAS 2017.
  • The publication of the abstract does not infringe any third party rights including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights.
  • The organizers of WEAS 2017 reserve the right to remove abstracts or parts of abstracts, which does not comply with the regulations.
  • The contact details saved in this system (which will be used to notify the submitter about the status of the abstract) are correct.
  • That the submitter is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract.
  • The committee reserves the final right to decide if the abstract should be an oral presentation or a poster.

Can I get a refund if I am prevented from attended?

For changes or cancellations before May 1st 2017 a administration fee of $50 is charged.
After May 1st 2017 changes and cancellations are not possible and there will be no refund of payments.
A no show requires full payment and are not entitled to refunds.

Is it possible to reach the venue by public transport?

Is there free parking?

There are a limited amount of free parking spaces close to the venue.

Can I submit an abstract without attending the symposium?

No, one of the authors of an abstract must attend the symposium in order to present it. Any submitted abstract without an attending author will be dismissed after March 15th 2017.

What is the permitted length of the abstract?

2.500 characters including spaces as well as 2 images (JPG, PNG, GIF) and 2 graphs.

Should I print and bring my confirmation e-mail?

Yes, you should bring your confirmation e-mail upon arriving for registration.
